We've been busy, but you sure wouldn't know it from our blog!
Today the kids and I went to the zoo courtesy of Culture Pass. I wanted to do it some weekend before it got "too hot". Ha! But we went anyway. It was only 102. Rob started umpiring softball at 10:00 this morning, he's still umpiring right now, and he should be done by 1:00 or so in the morning. I don't know how he does it! They would have to take me to the hospital.
Zoo pictures...
After the zoo, we stopped by Sonic for free drinks. I got a birthday coupon in my e-mail, and Erin had one of the free ones from school, courtesy of my sister (thanks, Kristil!) Then we met my parents for lunch at El Pollo Loco because they're honoring the ill-fated KFC internet coupons that KFC stopped honoring. I'm glad I didn't throw mine away! It was gooooood.
Then back to my parents' house to swim. The water was a little cold at first, but perfect after a few minutes! Just what we needed. The kids did great! Erin swam quite a bit on her own, although it's more fun to swim with the noodles & stuff. Robbie wore the arm floaties and just took off! No hesitation about leaping in off the steps or getting his face wet. We'll be forgoing the swim lessons at the public pool this summer, after last year's price hike and disease-ridden water that cost us many rolls of toilet paper.
We ate dinner at Jack-in-the-Box (love those weird tacos!) and had ice cream at Baskin Robbins. Here's Dad bouncing my heavy kids on his knees.
His poor knees.
...And here are some pictues of other stuff I've neglected to blog about!
Erin FINALLY lost a tooth! The poor girl is almost 7, and all her friends have been sporting their permanent teeth for quite a while. The darn thing didn't even get loose until the permanent tooth came almost all the way in behind it! So here's the picture with her gap - although her backup tooth was already there.
Erin also got to go to the Honors Night for school. If you're on the honor roll for three quarters, you get to go to Honors Night and get a trophy. Erin had principal's honor roll, so she got to get one of the tall trophies. I had to work that night, but Rob brought the camera. His step-dad and my parents were also able to go, so Erin was pretty happy to have a little entourage!
For Mother's Day, Rob got me the copper kitchen faucet I've been wanting! He installed it one night when I was at work (and then he re-installed it after I asked him to switch the sprayer and the on/off lever). The only thing we need to do something about is the air gap cover for the dishwasher. The old silver one is definitely out of place now and has to go. But it was a nice surprise & I really like my new faucet!
We went to the Arizona Science Center a few weeks ago, and Erin got to bring a couple of her friends. Robbie enjoyed hanging out with the ladies! Among the highlights:
Throwing balls into the nostrils of a giant nose until it sneezed
and lying on a bed of nails.
This Thursday is the last day of school. We're going camping in a couple of weeks, and we're ready for summer!
